Our recommend weight limits are a "working" load, which is how your athlete will use it (swinging, circling, hanging, kipping). Be wary of competitors who list a high weight limit as that may be indicative of static load (hanging only) and not working load. With optional stabilisers, kids can easily perform skills like kips/upstarts and back hip circles on the Jr. Kip Bar. The kip bar's base can be even further stabilised with a 1.2m x 2.4m piece of plywood for more advanced skills.
- For athletes weighing between 22-32kg (3.5-5st) to practice basic skills: Jr. Kip Bar
- For athletes weighing between 22-32kg (3.5-5st) to practice advanced skills: Jr. Kip Bar with Optional Stabilisers
- For athletes weighing up to 56kg (9st) to practice basic to advanced skills: Jr. Kip Bar with Optional Stabilisers, plywood purchased from a local DIY store
The mat needs to be 1.2m wide. The most versatile option is a 1.2m x 2.4m x 3.5cm(or 5cm) Tumbling Mat used with the 90cm x 1.8m x 10cm Jr Practice Mat or 1.2m x 1.8m x 15cm Home Practice Mat.
We recommend 3m ceilings for the highest bar height but if you have lower ceilings you can set the bar lower and it will still be usable.
Tumbl Trak does not normally recommend bars based on age. We prefer to recommend the best bar based on your child's weight. We believe that stability is the most important factor when selecting your bar and considering a bar's "working load" weight limit is the best method.
