Front flipping is an important tumbling skill that progresses to many more difficult skills. Tammy Biggs uses various stations in a sequential circuit, using a Tumbl Trak, to improve shapes and create good habits in athletes. Using barrels, inclines and panel mats, Tammy Biggs demonstrates the basics of beginning drills for developing Onodi’s and Arabians. Tammy uses these progressions to lead toward many higher level skills on vault and bars including bails, shoot over, and Geingers. These drills will help reduce the risk of injury as the focus on strengthening areas that are specific to skills that land on one leg. Once athletes have mastered the basics of Arabian flipping (See Teaching the Onodi and the Arabian), the next step in developing Arabian tumbling passes is to connect the arabian to a round off. Tammy shows beginning steps of correct arm positions, and the importance of teaching athletes about using their hips to help in rotation. All drills are connected in a circuit that progresses. It is essential to use the drills in sequence for the safest, and most effective training techniques.
