No it is not required, which is why we offer it as an optional accessory. It is a great addition for those using the T-Trainer for Vault. However, as the T-Trainer is so versatile it can be useful for training skills bars, balance beam mounts and tumbling, in addition to men's apparatus like rings, parallel bars and strength moves, plus ninja courses.
